Body Lift (Post Bariatric Surgery)
Post Bariatric Surgery, also known as a body lift, involves the removal, lifting, and reshaping of excess skin and tissue after significant weight loss. Common areas enhanced during a body lift surgery include the arms, thighs, tummy, and back.
Candidates for body lift surgery include those who have lost a significant amount of weight through diet and exercise or those who have undergone bariatric (weight loss) surgery. The rapid weight loss causes loose and hanging skin in various areas of the body – causing discomfort, irritation, and self consciousness.
During the procedure, the surgeon uses targeted liposuction and body reshaping techniques to remove excess skin and then tighten the underlying muscles. Depending on the body of the patient, a body lift can include any combination of lifts on the tummy, arms, back, buttocks, hips, legs, neck, chin, and thighs.
