Eyelid Surgery / Blepharoplasty

Dr. Burstein specializes in eyelid surgery, also known as blepharoplasty, a procedure to remove fat, excess skin, and muscle from the upper and lower eyelids. There are several specialized techniques for both the upper and lower eyelid that Dr. Burstein utilizes in order to ensure the best results for each individual patient. One such technique, known as transconjunctival blepharoplasty, involves a small incision through the membrane lining the inside of the lower eyelid (called the conjunctiva) – allowing for fat removal without an external scar. For patients with slight wrinkling around the eye, laser resurfacing is often recommended in addition to this procedure.

Surgery of the Nose / Rhinoplasty

Surgery of the nose can be one of the most complicated cosmetic procedures, and should only be reserved for surgeons who have a wealth of experience in the area. The goal of a rhinoplasty is to preserve the function of the nose, while simultaneously enhancing appearance. Surgical precision is a must in achieving a natural look. As a plastic and reconstructive surgeon who is also trained in Otolaryngology/Head and Neck surgery, Dr. Burstein is world renowned for his technique in both plastic and reconstructive surgery of the nose.

Facelift

The trick to a successful facelift is having the patient look naturally younger, without making their skin look too stretched or tight. Dr. Burstein takes into account the anatomy of each person’s face to determine the best method for getting rid of wrinkles and excess skin. In order to minimize scarring from the procedure, Dr. Burstein employs the short scar method, or a specialized, minimal-incision facelift technique where scars are hidden within the hairline and within the ear canal. This technique avoids any distortion of the sideburn area and minimizes scarring; while producing appreciable, natural-looking results.

Mid-Facelift

A mid-facelift is a variation of a full, traditional facelift that focuses on rejuvenating the mid face – or the triangular area formed between the corners of the mouth and two corners of the eyes. A mid-facelift works to correct sagging and deep wrinkles/creases (such as the nasal furrow) by going beyond the skin to tighten the supporting muscles and tissue found underneath. By working with the deeper layers of the face, Dr. Burstein can rejuvenate the cheek and jowl area with minimal risk.

Upper Facelift

The upper facelift, is similar in technique to a brow lift or forehead lift and can be performed two basic ways – Dr. Burstein making incisions at several places in the hair line (also known as the short scar technique) or endoscopically (using a tiny probe to look and work beneath the skin, also resulting in minimal incisions). Dr. Burstein will work with each individual patient to determine which technique will be most beneficial to achieve their desired look.

Lower Facelift

In order to minimize scarring and target problem areas of the lower face, a small incision is either made within the ear canal or a “key-hole” incision is made to remove the excess fat endoscopically. To support the new look of the face and provide longer lasting results, the muscles beneath the skin are then tightened. Liposuction to remove small pockets of fat under the chin (commonly referred to as a “double chin”) is a technique also employed by Dr. Burstein to give the lower face a more lifted and youthful look.

Forehead Lift / Brow Lift

Dr. Burstein utilizes the latest techniques to perform forehead lift surgery, or the lifting of the skin and muscles to raise the brows and smooth the wrinkles and furrows on the forehead. Depending on the technique recommended, Dr Burstein will make short scar incisions hidden within the hairline. More commonly though, Dr. Burstein will recommend an endoscopic approach, also known as the “key-hole” technique, making very small incisions, that result in minimal scarring, to lift the brows and forehead.

Facial Contouring / Facial Implants

Whether through use of a facial implant or through sculpture of the face structure, facial contouring procedures can alter and enhance the overall look of the face. No one person’s face is the same, thus many procedures, techniques, and surgical variations can be recommended to give a patient a proportionate look. One such technique that Dr. Burstein specializes in is genioplasty, also known as chin surgery, which involves the repositioning of the chin to create enhanced facial harmony.

Surgery of the Chin / Genioplasty

Genioplasty, also known as surgery of the chin, is the enhancement of the chin by moving it forward on the face. This type of repositioning can greatly improve overall face and neck aesthetics. Dr. Burstein also specializes in reconstruction of the chin for patients who suffer from a recessed chin or have experienced facial damage or a facial deformity..

Fat Transfer / Dermal Fat Grafting

With the competitive market of popular injectables like Botox® and Restylane® constantly on the rise, people often overlook fat as an injection alternative. However, fat transfer into the face can provide patients with natural looking results that last longer than products not consisting of a person’s own fat. Oftentimes, Dr. Burstein will recommend having extracted fat from another procedure (such as a blepharoplasty, neck lift, or liposuction) injected into other areas of the face (such as the lips) for a more enhanced and cost-effective look.

Neck Lift

Even if the rest of the face has been lifted and excess skin removed, a patient will not achieve their desired look if sagging jowls and/or a double chin are still present. Contouring the neck with liposuction and tightening of the neck muscles and skin is a key part of facial rejuvenation.

Chemical Peel

After surgical work has been performed and the face is healed, a skin treatment is often recommended to even skin tone and texture. Also recommended for nonsurgical patients wishing to revitalize the look of their skin, a mild chemical peel can rejuvenate the face with minimal downtime.

Laser Resurfacing

Laser resurfacing uses an intense beam of light to ablate or remove damaged skin tissue to improve wrinkles, scars and blemishes, seal blood vessels, or cut skin tissue. Often Dr. Burstein will recommend laser resurfacing treatments to even skin tone and texture or get rid of ultra fine lines and wrinkles after a surgical facial procedure.
