Fat transfers, also known as fat grafting or fat injections, uses liposuction to take fat from one part of the body and then inject it or re-implant it into another area of the body where needed. Excess fat is removed from an area of the body, such as the tummy, jowls, thighs or buttocks and the extracted fat is then cleansed and the fat cells are isolated. Next, the fat is injected into the areas of the body that need restored volume. Fat sculpting can be more beneficial over other alternatives because the fat cells come from the patient’s own body and there is no risk of allergic reaction. The most common areas for fat transfer are in the face and in the buttocks.

Fat transfer of the buttocks is often preferred over buttocks implants because the end result feels more natural.
