Get a New “Look” with Eyelid Surgery

The eyes are the most expressive part of the face.  They are one of the first parts of us that people see, and unfortunately they are usually where the earliest signs of aging often appear.  Because the skin and tiny muscles around the eyes see so much day-to-day use over the years, they are frequently prone to wrinkles and sagging earlier than any other part of the face.   Fortunately eyelid surgery, or blepharoplasty, can help alleviate some of the symptoms of aging in this area, giving you a fresher, younger appearance.

Both upper and lower blepharoplasty procedures require care and precision to ensure that the final result is natural and subtle.  Incisions are hidden in the natural crease of the eyelid, just below the lower lash line or inside the lower eyelid in order to minimize the appearance of scars.  Once complete, the eyelid incisions are typically closed with either removable or absorbable sutures, skin adhesives, or surgical tape.  Additionally dark discoloration of the lower eyelids can be erased with a chemical peel or Sciton® laser skin resurfacing.

While recovery time varies from person to person, most of my patients require rest for the first few days as swelling or bruising generally subsides within the first few days.  It is important to follow my post-surgical recovery requirements and wear all post-surgical garments or gauze.  Eyelid surgery patients should be able to return to work within a week or two.
