Frequently Asked Questions about Arm Lifts

Am I a good candidate for arm lift surgery?
Optimal candidates for arm lift surgery are adults with sagging of the skin in the upper arm area, whose weight is relatively stable and who are not significantly overweight. The procedure is not recommended for patients who smoke or who have any medical conditions that could impair the healing process or increase their surgical risk. As when undergoing any plastic surgery procedure, patients should ideally have a positive outlook and realistic expectations.

What can I expect during my recovery after an arm lift?
Every patient is unique and individual healing times can vary significantly, however patients can typically return to normal, daily activities in approximately two weeks and to a normal exercise regimen in three to four weeks. Your surgeon will give you specific instructions on how to care for the surgical site and drains (if appropriate), medications you may need to take or apply to aid healing, and when to follow up to make sure everything is proceeding as it should.

How long do the results from an arm lift procedure last?
Arm lift procedures remove excess fat and loose, sagging skin and so they are intended to provide extremely long-lasting results. While it is natural that some degree of firmness will be lost as the body ages, patients who maintain stable weight and generally good fitness levels can reasonably expect the results from an arm lift procedure to last a lifetime.
