Atlanta Plastic Surgery Doctors in the News Discussing the 2011 Atlanta Breast Surgery Symposium
Board certified plastic and reconstructive surgeons Dr. Jim Namnoum and Dr. Franklyn Elliott of Atlanta Plastic Surgery will moderate the live Atlanta breast reconstruction and breast augmentation surgery procedures at the 27th Annual Breast Surgery Symposium January 14th- January 16th at the Intercontinental Hotel in Buckhead .
Hosted by the Southeastern Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons (SESPRS), the Atlanta event strives to keep cosmetic and reconstructive breast surgeons around the globe up-to-date with the most accurate and effective breast surgery methods and tools. In addition to Atlanta Plastic Surgery, the Breast Surgery Symposium features lecturers from plastic surgery centers across the world including: Atlanta, Los Angeles, and Sao Paulo.
Co-Chairman of the event, Dr. Namnoum sees immense potential in the burgeoning surgical topics to be detailed during the event including: fat transfer for breast augmentation, breast reconstruction using local anesthesia, and fat-grafting/ engineered tissue use in breast reconstruction.
Dr. Namnoum, speaking about breast reconstruction procedures that use a patient’s own fat to rebuild their surgically treated breast(s) after cancer treatment states, “With breast cancer rates soaring, it’s comforting to see my reconstructive surgery peers sharing how to better help patients not only look better, but feel better after their cancer battle using natural substances from their own bodies.”
Atlanta Plastic Surgery has a long history of breast reconstruction milestones including co-development and refinement of TRAM flap surgery (one of the original reconstruction methods) by the practice’s founder, Dr. Carl Hartrampf, and reconstructive specialist Dr. Franklyn Elliott. The Atlanta Plastic Surgery doctors continue this history by regularly posting medical insight about the latest reconstructive surgery news on the Atlanta Plastic Surgery blog.
In addition to breast reconstruction, the 2011 Breast Symposium also promises cosmetic breast surgery topics like Atlanta breast augmentation using breast implants, breast lift (mastopexy) surgery, and breast surgery safety. Also featured is a segment on Oculoplastic Surgery (Atlanta facial reconstruction and cosmetic facial procedures). The SESPRS plans to broadcast this year’s live breast surgery demonstrations via satellite to the organization’s international members who are not physically able to attend.
