Surgeons of Atlanta Plastic Surgery Attend the 2012 Plastic Surgery The Meeting
Last week, some of the highly-skilled plastic surgeons of Atlanta Plastic Surgery attended the American Society of Plastic Surgeons’ (ASPS) annual meeting. ASPS is the world’s largest organization of board certified plastic surgeons that advances training, ethics, and research in plastic surgery. Each year, ASPS hosts Plastic Surgery The Meeting featuring instructional courses, panels, abstract presentations, and exhibits for over 4,500 medical professionals. This year, ASPS welcomed over 2,700 guests in New Orleans at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center to share research and knowledge on every aspect of cosmetic and reconstructive plastic surgery.
Held the last weekend of October during Breast Cancer Awareness Month, The Meeting began with a special opening reception honoring five breast cancer survivors who had undergone breast reconstruction and continued to use their experience to help others facing breast cancer. The weekend continued with over 30 educational courses, panels, and lectures. The Meeting allowed each attendee to customize their schedules to meet their own practice goals. Some programs featured women plastic surgeons, medical students, and hot topics in plastic surgery. Throughout the weekend, the Exhibit Hall showcased over 300 companies featuring products and services about the latest surgical technologies. The different companies showed plastic surgeons cutting-edge products and techniques available to better care for their patients.
On the last evening, four-time Grammy nominee and national BRA Day spokeswoman Jewel performed at ASPS’s charity concert to raise awareness about breast reconstruction options. Event proceeds went to the Plastic Surgery Foundation to support breast reconstruction research for national and local breast cancer organizations.
The surgeons of Atlanta Plastic Surgery are dedicated to the ongoing plastic surgery advancement and education. Some of them attended the weekend in New Orleans to refine their skills with the latest updates in technology and products as well as techniques and new research.
