Atlanta to Host the Southeastern Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons’ 29th Annual Internationally Acclaimed Breast Surgery Symposium January 11th-13th, 2013
Board Certified Plastic surgeons from the U.S. and throughout the world convene for the 29th Breast Symposium in Atlanta, GA at Buckhead’s Intercontinental Hotel January 11-13, 2013 to demonstrate the world’s latest techniques and present worldwide trending panels and topics in cosmetic and reconstructive breast surgery.
Atlanta, GA, January 3rd, 2012 – Northside Hospital and The Southeastern Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons (SESPRS) are hosting the 29th Annual Breast Surgery Symposium. Chairman of the meeting, Dr. Mark Codner, states that “this state of the art educational event is internationally recognized and attended by plastic surgeons from over 15 countries. The Atlanta meeting has become synonymous with the forefront of innovations in breast surgery since Dr. Carl Hartrampf, the original Founder of the meeting, held the first meeting almost 30 years ago.” The co-chairs of the meeting Atlanta Plastic Surgeons James Namnoum, M.D., Albert Losken, M.D, and L. Franklyn Elliott, M.D. will present global advances in plastic surgery of the breast in the 2013 scientific program entitled – “Balance Without Bias.”
In addition, the SESPRS has funded The Foreign Scholar Program which supports chief plastic surgery residents from around the world by bringing them to Atlanta to attend and be honored at the meeting. The 2013 Foreign Scholars are from South Korea and countries that have benefited from this program in the past include: Russia, Israel, New Zealand, Australia, China, Japan, Columbia, Costa Rica, Philippines, Italy, France, and Iraq.
The Symposium will feature The Honorary Hartrampf Guest Lecture, named after Atlanta breast reconstruction pioneer Dr. Carl Hartrampf who is credited for developing the TRAM Flap, one of the most innovative breast reconstruction techniques used by plastic surgeons today.
The Atlanta Breast Surgery Symposium’s agenda is complete with live demonstrations of the most advanced surgical techniques transmitted from Northside Hospital to meeting attendees at the Intercontinental Hotel, as well as live streaming online. The 2013 live surgery will feature breast reduction as well as breast augmentation with the newest implants recently approved by the FDA for use in the US. The symposium will feature multiple series of surgeon-led discussion panels covering topics such as fat grafting to the breast and Advantages and Disadvantages of Acellular Dermal Matrix. The symposium’s more casual “Hot Topics in Breast Surgery” segment will provide a question and answer series to cover subjects frequently highlighted by the media.
Program Co-Chairman Dr. Jim Namnoum shared his enthusiasm about the program’s emphasis on technological solutions, “The 2013 event will be an opportunity to collaborate with the best and the brightest about the most advanced techniques such as direct to implant reconstruction, TRAM flaps, latissimus flaps, and microsurgical SIEA and DIEP flaps.
