FDA Approved Botox® Cosmetic for Treatment of Crow’s Feet
While our highly skilled plastic surgeons provide a variety of facial procedures to address the signs of aging, they also offer minimally invasive options for patients who are not ready for comprehensive surgery or are simply looking to enhance their plastic surgery results. Botox® Cosmetic is one of the many non-surgical facial rejuvenation treatments available at Atlanta Plastic Surgery, P.C. and AYA Medical Spa. Botox® is a cosmetic injectable administered to the upper areas of the face including the forehead, brows, and eye area to relax facial muscles and smooth out wrinkles and lines.
In 2002, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved Botox® for the temporary improvement of glabellar lines (frown lines). Botox® has also been approved for the treatment of chronic migraines, severe underarm sweating, and eyelid spasms. Now, the FDA has approved Botox® for treating moderate to severe canthal lines, also known as crow’s feet, which develop at the sides of the eyes. With a short series of injections, Botox® relaxes muscles to prevent repeated facial expressions that cause wrinkles and furrows.
In addition to Botox®, AYA Medical Spa and our plastic surgeons provide facial fillers such as Juvéderm® and Restylane® to treat signs of aging in other areas of the face since Botox® can only treat expression lines on the upper third of the face. Facial fillers restore areas of lost volume around the mouth and cheeks to smooth wrinkles and folds. To address surface concerns such as acne, scarring, hyperpigmentation, or uneven skin tone, we also offer laser skin resurfacing with the latest Sciton® laser system and a variety of chemical peels that can be customized to each patient’s skin type.
