The Questions You Should Ask About Plastic Surgery
For nearly fifty years, Atlanta Plastic Surgery has been recognized as one of the premier cosmetic and reconstructive plastic surgery centers in the southeast. It is our belief that optimal plastic surgery results are attained only when patients are educated about all of their plastic surgery options so that they can work together with their surgeon and fully realize carefully considered and reasonable expectations. Many patients are excited about the countless opportunities that plastic surgery can offer, but in their enthusiasm may overlook some of the important practical details that need to be considered. Here are answers to some of the most important questions that you should ask before undergoing any cosmetic plastic surgery procedure.
How can I be sure that my plastic surgeon is qualified?
While any licensed physician can attempt to perform basic plastic surgery procedures and call themselves a cosmetic surgeon, each of our seven providers is board certified in plastic surgery, a distinguished honor that not all surgeons possess. Board certification requires extensive education and training beyond medical school and surgical residency, including years of experience performing highly specialized plastic surgery techniques. Looking for board certification is the single best way to ensure that a doctor has expertise in a particular medical or surgical specialty.
What can I expect to happen during my plastic surgery consultation?
All of our consultations and evaluations are conducted by one of our board certified plastic surgeons. While every plastic surgeon has their own individual approach, some of our providers use advanced plastic surgery technology, like the Vectra® M3 imaging system, to give patients a chance to view possible surgical outcomes on a three-dimensional virtual model generated from digital photographs. Many also make use of TouchMD software which allows consultation notes, educational content, before and after photos, and procedural videos, to be saved and accessed outside the office from any computer, tablet, or mobile device, putting all of the information from the consultation at your fingertips.
Do you offer any special payment or financing options for plastic surgery?
At Atlanta Plastic Surgery we offer a number of financing and bill pay options that can be customized to suit each patient’s individual needs. Many of our providers proudly accept health insurance from Humana®, Blue Cross Blue Shield®, Aetna®, Cigna®, United Health Care®, and in some cases Kaiser Permanente® for medically necessary or reconstructive surgery. For cosmetic procedures not covered by insurance, we can provide financing through Alphaeon® or CareCreditSM, a credit card specifically for medical payments that can be used for any number of plastic surgery procedures.
