This coming year will mark the fiftieth anniversary of Atlanta Plastic Surgery, P.C., the premier cosmetic and reconstructive plastic surgery center in the Southeast, and we couldn’t be more proud. Ever since we were established back in 1968, our main goal has been to provide the most natural looking cosmetic and reconstructive plastic surgery results while maintaining the very highest standards of patient care. Over the years, we have done this by partnering with board certified plastic surgeons that are world-renowned for their innovation and contributions to the field and by fostering research into the most advanced plastic surgery technology and techniques. This is why we are so happy to have the opportunity to begin our golden anniversary year by taking part in the 34th Annual Atlanta Breast Surgery Symposium.
Originally established by Atlanta Plastic Surgery co-founder and breast reconstruction pioneer Dr. Carl Hartrampf, the Atlanta Breast Surgery Symposium has evolved to become internationally synonymous with innovations in reconstructive and cosmetic breast surgery. This year’s three day long academic program will be attended by hundreds of experts in breast surgery from around the world, and two surgeons from Atlanta Plastic Surgery, P.C.: symposium co-chair James Namnoum, M.D. and emeritus chair L. Franklyn Elliott, M.D., will be playing integral parts in the proceedings.
The title of this year’s program will be “The Future of Breast Surgery: Is it Aesthetic or Reconstructive?” Visiting physicians will have the opportunity to attend panel discussions on a variety of topics, including autologous breast reconstruction, fat grafting and alternative approaches to breast reconstruction, breast augmentation, breast reduction, and mastopexy (or breast lift procedures). However, as in previous years, the highlight of this year’s program promises to be the live surgical demonstrations, performed by some of the field’s leading experts and televised live from Northside Hospital to be streamed live to the Intercontinental Hotel attendees and viewers around the world. This year, the surgical procedures will include a breast lift using absorbable mesh, a male breast reduction, a breast reconstruction using the DIEP flap method, and a transgender breast surgery. Additionally, on-line access will allow physicians who are observing the symposium remotely to email questions directly to the visiting faculty to be answered live.
