Common Questions About Breast Lift Surgery
Breast sagging is an aesthetic issue that affects many women over time. As a woman
ages, factors like gravity, weight fluctuation, pregnancy, or natural aging can cause the
breast skin to become stretched and loose. This causes the appearance of sagging or
drooping breasts. Breast lift surgery is a popular cosmetic surgery procedure that is
meant to address breast sagging and help women who are concerned about the shape
and firmness of their breasts. To help anyone interested in treating their sagging breasts,
I have answered a few common questions about breast lift surgery for patients.
How Should I Prepare for Breast Lift Surgery?
The preparation for a breast lift may depend on each individual patient and the specific
nature of their surgery. However, some things that are commonly done in the lead-up to
the procedure include a medical evaluation to determine if the patient is healthy enough
for surgery. A baseline mammogram is often recommended before breast surgery as a
preventative measure for potential breast cancer in the future. All patients who smoke or
use other forms of nicotine should quit in the weeks leading up to and following their
breast lift. We also recommend making accommodations for the day of the surgery
including arranging transportation to and from the procedure. We review other protocols
prior to any breast procedure.
Can a Breast Lift Be Combined with Other Cosmetic Surgery Procedures?
It’s very common for patients to combine a breast lift with another cosmetic breast
procedure like breast augmentation or breast reduction surgery. A breast lift can also be
included with a tummy tuck and liposuction as part of a mommy makeover procedure.
However, it’s important to first speak with one of our board-certified plastic surgeons to
confirm that combination plastic surgery is a healthy and viable option for you personally.
Is There a Way to Predict What My Breast Lift Results May Look Like?
During breast lift consultation appointments, some of our doctors use the Vectra® M3
Imaging system to help patients see a preview of what their final results might look like.
This technology uses a system of cameras to capture three-dimensional photos of the
patient’s body. We are then able to use these photos to create a lifelike projection of the
final results of a plastic surgery procedure. We also give patients the opportunity to try
on some of the implants to get an idea of sizing and overall proportion.
We’re always happy to answer questions like this to help educate and reassure our
patients. For more information or to schedule your consultation today, please contact
