Common Myths About Breast Lift Surgery To Be Aware Of
We always encourage our patients to get to know the procedure they are interested in by doing a bit of their own research. However, it can be hard at times to know what is true and what is false when reading about plastic surgery online. It’s nice having so much information readily available, but bad info can make prospective patients tentative about surgery and keep them from achieving the aesthetic results that they desire. That’s why we take our role as educators so seriously here at Atlanta Plastic Surgery. Today, we wanted to focus on breast lift surgery and take a moment to debunk some of the more persistent rumors about the procedure in order to provide some comfort and clarity.
Myth #1: Breast Lift Results Can Be Achieved Without Surgery
This is unfortunately not the case. While some medications, supplements, and topicals may claim to be able to address breast sagging, this is simply not accurate. Additionally, diet and exercise will not be able to effectively treat breast sagging since the condition is caused by loose, excess skin and not fat.
Myth #2: Breast Lift Results Will Last a Lifetime
Breast Lift Surgery results are meant to be long-lasting. But with that said, things can certainly change over time as a result of natural aging and other factors. However, when performed by our skilled, experienced plastic surgeons, the results of breast lift surgery are outstanding and can last for many years. It’s just important to discuss any questions or concerns during the consultation and establish realistic expectations before surgery.
Myth #3: Breast Sagging Only Occurs After Pregnancy
While it’s true that many women who go through pregnancy, childbirth, and breastfeeding do experience some degree of breast sagging, the truth is that this can just as easily affect women who have never been pregnant. Breast sagging, a loss of firmness or breast shape can occur naturally over time. Additionally, gravity or weight fluctuation at any age can also cause the breast skin to become stretched, leading to sagging.
