How do I Get Rid of My Flabby Arms?
Have you ever thought about and considered doing something about the excess skin and fat hanging from your arms? Well, there are two procedures that may help you achieve that goal. One is an arm lift, a surgical procedure known as a brachioplasty. The second procedure is liposuction. Today we wanted to educate our readers on which arm contouring procedure may be best for their needs.
What does an arm lift involve?
It is not uncommon to have loose skin in the arm area due to general aging or after losing weight. An arm lift is a surgical procedure to remove excess skin and fat from the upper arms that diet and exercise can’t remove. It does involve an incision. The procedure can tighten and smooth the connective tissue that defines the shape of the upper arm. You may be a good candidate for this procedure if your upper arms sag and the excess skin and/or fat appears to be hanging from the upper arm. An arm lift can often improve your confidence and self-image
What does liposuction of the arm involve?
Liposuction is a procedure where the surgeon inserts a very small cannula under the skin that removes excess fat from the arm. Removing fat cells can improve the shape of the arm. There are various liposuction techniques so you and your plastic surgeon will determine which procedure is best for you
What can I expect after the surgery?
You should expect your arms to be somewhat swollen and bruised with an arm lift and liposuction of the arm. Both the swelling and bruising are temporary and will go away within one to four weeks depending on the extent of your surgery. The specific size of the incision depends on whether you have liposuction or an arm lift as well as your plastic surgeon’s technique. You and your surgeon will discuss post operative care and the right procedure for your situation prior to the procedure.
