Ask the Atlanta Plastic Surgery Experts: Notable Procedures For The Face
Plastic surgery for the face means far more than just facelift surgery. Today, patients who are interested in refreshing their face and treating the effects of facial aging have more options than they may even realize. The expert plastic surgeons here at Atlanta Plastic Surgery perform a wide variety of cosmetic surgery procedures for the face. To help people get more acquainted with your options and what specific areas of the face they can help address, our surgeons have answered a few common questions about the plastic surgery procedures for the face that we perform.
Question #1: What makes someone a good candidate for a forehead lift?
Forehead lift surgery (also known as a brow lift), is intended to help patients who wish to address the upper portion of the face, specifically the area above the eyes. Good candidates for a forehead lift are people who experience visible signs of aging in this area, including excess skin, frown lines or furrows between the eyebrows, or low eyebrow positioning that creates a tired or grumpy appearance. Patients should be in good health and have a positive mentality regarding their surgery.
Question #2: Is there a way for men to address the appearance of jowls or a double chin with cosmetic surgery?
Absolutely. This is a very common aesthetic concern for men, especially as they get a little older. For men only needing improvement of the double chin, we may perform a neck lift only. We typically recommend facelift surgery for men who want to rejuvenate the lower portion of their face and neck. Depending on the specific needs of each patient, we may perform a full facelift or just a lower male facelift in these scenarios.
Question #3: How much recovery time should I expect following fat transfer injections to the face?
Recovery after fat transfer is typically pretty straightforward. Most people can return to their regular routine within a day or two. Although we may recommend holding off on any extensive exercise or work for one week depending on the extensiveness of your procedure. Some degree of swelling and bruising around the injection area should be expected in the days following your procedure, but this will subside. Swelling can persist in some cases for up to 2-3 weeks and obscure the results of your treatment until this passes. We will discuss your recovery in more depth during the pre-procedure consultation.
