There is no shortage of reasons that we love the fall season here at Atlanta Plastic Surgery. This is a terrific time of year, thanks to the cooler weather, lovely foliage, and all the other goodness that Autumn has to offer. However, in addition to the things that we commonly associate with the season, it’s a fact that fall is a uniquely advantageous time for plastic surgery patients. Allow our expert plastic surgeons to explain why the fall season is so conducive to aesthetic rejuvenation.
Saying Goodbye to Summer
Any plastic surgery procedure will require at least some degree of downtime for recovery. And squeezing in this recovery time during the busy summer season can be difficult for some patients. With all the family vacations, trips to the beach, kids being out of school, etc., the summer may not always lend itself to downtime and post-surgery relaxation. But when fall rolls in with its cooler temperatures and more time spent indoors, it can provide a nice and helpful recovery window for many patients.
Concealing Yourself During Recovery
In addition to the time required, the plastic surgery recovery period also involves some degree of post-surgery bruising and swelling. In many cases, this will require compression garments in order to promote healthy healing and the best possible surgical results. Fall season plastic surgery can be helpful due to the looser, heavier clothing associated with this time of year. Long sleeves, sweaters, hats, and other bulkier items can effectively help conceal compression garments and post-surgical swelling during the recovery period, to help maintain a level of discretion that many patients prefer after surgery.
Extra Time Away From Work
With the fall comes the holiday season. And with the holidays comes additional time out of the office. This is a great thing for plastic surgery patients. With proper planning, it is generally easier for people to have the necessary time off after surgery to recover successfully without having to miss any additional work. The added benefit of having a spouse or partner also out of the office and able to assist in recovery is another nice perk for many patients.
Avoiding The Summer Surgery Logjam
Many plastic surgery practices experience their busiest times of the year in the late spring and early summer. This makes sense when you consider people wanting to look their best for the summer season. However, undergoing a cosmetic procedure in the fall can be a great way to avoid the busiest time of year in many offices, and also ensure that you have recovered and achieved the final aesthetic results of your surgery well in advance of next spring.
Everyone’s schedule and preferences are different, and what is best for one person may not work for the next. However, we have seen over the years that there can often be great benefits to undergoing plastic surgery in the fall and we look forward to helping many more patients look and feel their best this October and beyond.
