In our experience, it’s common for patients to have a hard time differentiating between a breast lift and breast reduction surgery. We often tell our patients that breast lift surgery is more about adjusting the positioning, shape, and perkiness of the breasts, and not so much about the size. Some excess skin will be removed from the breast area during the procedure, but the resulting decrease in breast size or volume is typically marginal and not a result that patients should count on.

Fact #2: Breast Lifts Are Commonly Paired With Other Cosmetic Procedures

While this is not always the case and many people do undergo breast lift procedures on their own, it is quite common to pair breast lift surgery with additional cosmetic surgery procedures. For instance, many women who undergo breast augmentation surgery (breast enhancement) will also undergo a breast lift at the same time to ensure the best possible positioning for their new breasts. It is also quite common to pair breast reduction surgery with a breast lift. A breast lift is also often used as a component of mommy makeover surgery.

Fact #3: A Breast Lift Can Help Relieve Uneven Breasts

We have extensive experience performing breast lift to help women with uneven or asymmetrical breasts. There are different procedures that can help achieve a more symmetrical breast contour, but a breast lift does so by repositioning tissue to its natural position and removing enough excess skin from the breast area in both breasts to help the patient achieve the result that they desire. In some cases, a breast lift can be performed on just one breast if we feel that will be the most helpful course of action.
