Breast Implant Removal
at Atlanta Plastic Surgery, P.C.
Performed at our Atlanta, and Cumming, GA locations.
Breast procedures can be reversed; breast implants can be removed if breast complications arise or patient desires change. Some reasons for breast implant removal are:
- Patient’s Desire for Smaller Breasts
- Breast Implant Deflation or Rupture
- Breast Implant Shifting
- Wrinkling or Rippling of the Breast Implant
- Breast Sagging
- Breast Asymmetry
- Bleeding
- Infection
- Breast Cancer Diagnosis
- Capsular Contracture
Breast implant removal surgeries are performed under general and usually take 30 minutes to an hour to perform as an outpatient procedure. The surgery may vary depending on type and placement of the breast implant. For instance, depending on the plastic surgeon, a saline implant may be deflated before removal so that the required incision is smaller.
Recovery from breast implant removal surgery is usually pretty short as patients can usually continue daily routines within a few days post-op. However, it takes a few months for full recovery. As with any other cosmetic or reconstructive surgery, there is a risk of complications. People with larger breast implants are more likely to experience abnormalities in their breast shape if they do not wish to replace the implant or have further breast procedures, or breast revision surgery . It is possible for breasts to appear smaller than before the original breast augmentation after the implants are removed due to hormonal changes and weight loss.
Consultations are available at our offices in Atlanta, Cumming / Forsyth, and Northside / Sandy Springs, Georgia.
