Breast Lift (Mastopexy)
at Atlanta Plastic Surgery, P.C.

Performed at our Atlanta, and Cumming, GA locations.

Breast lifts at Atlanta Plastic Surgery, P.C. are often recommended for women who wish to give their breasts a more lifted look after the effects of pregnancy, breastfeeding, aging, gravity, heredity, and/or weight loss have caused their breasts to lose their natural fullness. Also called a mastopexy, breast lift surgery can restore a more youthful and lifted look to women with sagging breasts, stretched skin, and loss of breast volume.

Breast Lift (Mastopexy) at Atlanta Plastic Surgery, P.C.During the breast lift procedure, excess skin is trimmed and supporting tissue is tightened to rejuvenate the position of the breast. The most common technique involves a limited or “short” scar procedure which avoids an incision under the breast. At times, an anchor shaped incision may be required to reshape the breast skin. After excess skin has been removed, the nipple and areola (dark area of skin around the nipple) are moved to the appropriate position and the breast is reshaped. During this part of the surgery, your plastic surgeon can also reduce the size of the areola, a procedure known as an areolar reduction.

After a breast lift, the breasts will be in a higher position on the chest and will be tighter and firmer in appearance. However, a breast lift on its own cannot change the size of the breast. That is why breast lifts at Atlanta Plastic Surgery are often done in conjunction with a breast augmentation for women who wish for larger breasts; or in conjunction with a breast reduction for women who wish to reduce the size of their breasts. Breast lifts are common for women whose bodies have changed due to pregnancy. Also known as a mommy makeover, or post-maternity breast and body reshaping, women can opt to undergo a series of procedures such as a breast lift, a breast reduction or augmentation, liposuction and/or tummy tuck to help them reclaim the body that they had before the effects of pregnancy.

Frequently Asked Questions about Breast Lifts

  • Combining different breast procedures is actually quite common. Breast reductions typically include some form of lift in order to help redistribute fat and remove excess skin and women seeking only a breast lift often find that a small implant can help improve core volume and central projection. In either case, the breasts can then be reshaped by either removing sagging breast tissue and skin or grafting additional fat to the cleavage area for further refinement and to help equalize the breasts’ size and shape. Every woman’s needs are different, which is why breast enhancement procedures should always be carefully customized to each individual’s specific needs.
