CoolSculpting® Fat Reduction

Although we see a variety of liposuction patients at Atlanta Plastic Surgery, we also see many patients whose amount of unwanted fat is not enough to warrant a traditional surgical procedure. This is where nonsurgical fat reduction may be able to help.

This type of patient is typically in good health and close to their ideal weight with small pockets of excess fat that fail to respond to diet and/or exercise.

These patients now can benefit from our new technology called CoolSculpting®.

CoolSculpting® uses a process known as cryolipolysis to apply cold externally to areas of unwanted fat to freeze the fat cells without damaging the skin. The cold temperature causes the fat within cells to disperse, and then the body’s natural processes take over and dispel the fat through the lymphatic system over the months following treatment. Many patients start to see fat reduction results within approximately three weeks of their treatment with more noticeable results after a few months. They will see full results after approximately four to six months following treatment*. While a single CoolSculpting® treatment may help reduce up to 20%-40% of unwanted fat, many patients have an additional treatment in order to maximize their results.

It’s important to understand that CoolSculpting® fat reduction is reserved for a very specific candidate as the treatment works best on very small pockets of unwanted fat. As an FDA-cleared procedure for reducing fat on the flanks and abdomen, patients with small amounts of excess fat can have CoolSculpting® of the abdomen, thighs, knees, arms, back, flanks, love handles, and saddlebags.
