Breast Augmentation with Dr. Mirzabeigi at Atlanta Plastic Surgery
Breast augmentation is consistently one of the most popular cosmetic plastic surgery procedures in the United States. The technology, materials, and techniques have been evolving rapidly for decades. I perform breast augmentation surgery to enhance women’s body contours, correct breast asymmetry, restore volume lost after pregnancy or significant weight change, and/or give the breasts an improved shape.
Breast Augmentation FAQs
Am I a good candidate for a breast augmentation?
If you are in good health and desire a change in the size/shape of your breasts, then you may be a good candidate for breast augmentation. Many women find that their breast size and/or shape changes after pregnancy or weight loss, causing them to look to breast augmentation to correct the issue. However, some women are simply unsatisfied with the natural size of their breasts, and breast augmentation is generally a great option for making their breasts more aesthetically appealing. Some patients have had prior augmentation and desire correction, given issues directly related to their prior operation. How is fat grafting [fat transfer] used in breast augmentation?
Fat grafting has revolutionized breast augmentation surgery. Fat is harvesting using traditional liposuction techniques. This fat is then transferred to the breasts to provide improved shape and volume. Fat grafting alone can be used to augment the breasts. There are also “composite” techniques, which combine both fat transfer and an implant. I will often combine these two techniques because the addition of fat grafting can camouflage an implant and help to provide a more natural look and feel while still maximizing the advantages of implant-based augmentation.
What is the difference between saline and silicone breast implants?
Saline breast implants consist of a sterilized salt-water solution encased in a silicone shell. Silicone implants come in a predetermined shape & size and are made entirely of the artificial polymer they are named after. My feeling is that silicone implants mimic the consistency of human tissue better than saline implants and therefore have a more natural look & feel. While there has been some concern over the safety of silicone breast implants in the past, extensive research by the FDA has significantly diminished these concerns.
