Joining Atlanta Plastic Surgery in 2012, Dr. Hunter Moyer believes that the best way to provide patients with optimal care is to blend scientific insight with the art of plastic surgery. He has recently finished training with world-renowned cosmetic and reconstructive surgeons and has an intimate knowledge of the latest techniques in surgery. In addition, Dr. Moyer has a history in tissue engineering and medical device design with a passion for research and desire to expand plastic surgery technology. His medical interests include cosmetic and reconstructive procedures for the breasts, body, and face.

Dr. Moyer received a degree in Electrical and Bioengineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology and then went on to graduate from Emory University School of Medicine in 2005. From there, he continued at Emory and completed his general surgery and plastic and reconstructive surgery residencies. During that time, he also worked as an affiliate professor at the Georgia Institute of Technology’s Center for Healthcare Stem Cell Laboratory.
Dr. Moyer’s in-depth studies of stem cell therapies, tissue rejuvenation, and implant design and integration have been published in journals like Tissue Engineering, Biomaterials, Annals of Plastic Surgery and Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. He has also authored several Plastic Surgery textbook chapters on subjects like TRAM breast reconstruction, oncoplastic surgery, and acellular dermal matrices used for breast surgery. His most recent research with the Keller Funnel™, a device used to ease the insertion of breast implants, has determined that the risk of bacterial contamination was significantly lower during breast augmentation surgery when this device is used, thereby maximizing the results and improving patient safety.
Dr. Moyer is an active member of the Plastic Surgery Research Council, the Southeastern Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons and Georgia Society of Plastic Surgeons, and he is a Member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons. He enjoys spending time with his wife and 2 young sons, serving at Buckhead Church, fly fishing and traveling.
